I started researching and studying dream theory, interpretations, symbolism, and archetypes when I first started experiencing night terrors in 2006. On my desperate quest to try and understand these frightening and random dreams I was almost debilitated by the anxiety I constantly felt from just remembering them. I eventually, and thankfully, found peace from these night terrors while still searching for the answers, wisdom, and warnings they contained.
The first step is writing your dreams down. This is an obvious step because it can help you record and remember every detail of the dream, but also this is a way to increase lucid dreaming. This is also the first step in 'getting it out of your head'. Sometimes writing them down, over and over again, wasn't enough to stop them from running through my mind all day, so I began painting them. I turned my dreams, and night terrors into artwork that I could physically hold, look at. This finally allowed me to find closure and took the power, that the nightmares seemingly had over me, away.
On the other hand, having your dream transformed and depicted in a work of art can be a way of documenting a powerful and encouraging message you have received while sleeping. I had a friend who had been on a road of discovery, and had been setting and reaching goals and for the first time in her life she felt as if she was on the right path. She had a dream where she was riding a unicorn up a rainbow full of beautiful colors with her hair blowing in the wind. She understood this dream to represent all the things she was currently accomplishing and reassurance that she was headed in the right direction. She wanted this dream turned into a painting so it could be a constant reminder to stay focused and keep moving towards her goals.
Whatever your reason, having a work of art depicting your dream is a powerful, and healing tool.

Although they remain somewhat of a scientific mystery, dreams are a very important part of our who we are. They are most often our psyche using the subconscious levels of our minds to deal with the issues we are unable to deal with on a conscience level while awake. And I believe that they can also be messages sent to us from God, Spirit, our higher self, etc.
Whatever their origin, it is important to understand the deeper meanings of our dreams so that we can move forward and overcome our mental roadblocks. Your dreams hold the key to understanding, overcoming, and learning from all of your issues, fears, and desires. So let's get interpreting!

how it all started |
I have two major sides to myself: the art side, and the paranormal. Ever sense I can remember I have seen spirits, known things without being told, and just felt a deep connection with "that kind" of stuff. Most of my life these two sides were independent of each other. But when I began college I began struggling with the paranormal side, and started having night terrors, black outs, and increased sightings of other worldly things. All of this, combined with being away from home for the first time, sent me into a deep depression.
I began using art as a therapeutic way of releasing all the fear and sadness I was bottling up inside. My nightmares were 'released' into my art. I painted every strange, troubling dream, and once they were on canvas they didn't bother me anymore. Because of this, my art was literally a piece of me, and contained a part of my soul and I became very attached to my work and felt I could never part with it. And I didn't. Three years ago, after years of prodding from friends and family, I began to warm up to the idea of selling my artwork. It took a lot of discerning, courage, and self discovery; but I eventually came to understand why I needed to share my art. As much comfort, insight, happiness, and therapeutic relief it has brought to me - it could also do this for someone else. The feeling of knowing that my art could possibly do for someone else what it has done for me is why I sell art. Art has blessed me in countless ways and has actually saved me when I was at my lowest and things seemed hopeless. If I could sell a million works of art and it bring joy and blessings to just one person, then I will be content and consider myself a success. Because of my own experience with the relief and healing that a dream painting can give, I offer custom dream paintings. I can create an artistic rendition, depicting and representing a dream or nightmare that you are struggling with OR one that you are pleased with and wish to permanently capture. As a result of my experience and interest in dreams and nightmares, I have been studying the science and spiritual aspects to dreams for more than five years now, and confidently offer dream interpretations as well. |
