I get it. As Witches we have a natural reverence for nature and Her creatures. Most of us believe animals possess intelligent spirits and are capable of understanding and connecting with us on a deeply personal level. Many, I dare say all, Witches at least recognize the magical potential and properties present in every animal. However, a Witch's pet is not synonymous with a Witch's familiar. Sorry, not sorry.

Many Sacred Artists and Spiritualists talk about and recognize spirit animals as guides throughout their journeys. However, I feel plant spirits are often overlooked and aren't given the recognition they deserve. Every plant, just as every animal, has its own energy and characteristics that can teach us lessons, give us power, and relay messages from Spirit. You can learn a lot of things from the flowers, as they say.
Dragonfly is a very powerful spirit, even though it is an insect. Dragonflies are one of the fastest flying insects in world, capable of flying up to 35 mph. They're also the most agile, having the ability to fly backwards, sideways, change direction in mid air, and hover for up to a minute. They are predators as well as prey, eating smaller insects while being eaten by larger ones. They are usually found around some kind of water source, because they're larvae (known as "nymphs") are aquatic. Actually, the majority of the dragonfly's life is spent living in the water, and only the last few months are spent above water, and flying around.
